Our place is out on Jajpur Road in the Orissa district, pin code 755019. It’s an area that sees a lot of industrial movement, so there are always trucks passing by and a bit of dust in the air. Gannon Dunkerley & Co. Ltd has a presence here because there is always something happening in this part of the state. The office itself is pretty basic. We have some heavy-duty furniture because the light stuff just doesn't last in an environment like this. The rain can be really heavy during the monsoon, and sometimes the road outside gets a bit flooded, making it hard for the staff to get in. We don't have any polished floors or bright lights. It's just a place where we sit down and figure out the logistics for our projects. There's a small shop nearby that sells decent snacks, which is where we usually end up during the afternoon break. We talk about the weather and the work that needs to be done. It’s a very grounded way of living. We don't use big words or have complicated rules. We just show up and do what is required. The walls are covered with old maps and project schedules. It’s a working office for working people, and that's just fine with us. We keep a spare set of boots near the door for when the site visits get particularly muddy.
