Adil Grocery Store

Adil Grocery Store is located in Naya Bazar, right here in Aul. Being the local post office area, there are always people moving about, but it’s still a small-town feel. Our store is stuffed with all the basics people need for their kitchens. We have bags of rice, tins of oil, and boxes of soap stacked wherever they fit. The shelves are made of simple wood and they’ve started to sag a bit over the years. We don't have fancy lights or a computerized billing system. Most of the time, we just write the totals on a scrap of paper or keep it in a notebook. I spend a lot of my time chatting with the people from the village who come in for their weekly supplies. We know who likes which brand of tea and who is waiting for the next shipment of sugar. It gets a bit dusty because the front door is always open to the street. Sometimes the goats from the market wander too close and we have to shoo them away. We aren't trying to be a supermarket; we are just a local shop in Aul. We stay open late for the workers coming back from the fields. It’s a quiet kind of work, but it keeps us busy and we like being right here in the middle of Naya Bazar with our neighbors.
