Panikoili is a small place in Jajpur. A K Rice Industries operates from there, specifically over in Goleipur. Mirza Asif Iqubal Baigat is the name on the door. It’s a rice place, so you can expect a lot of grain around most of the time. The mill is what keeps us busy from morning until it gets dark. We spend our time fixing parts and watching the bags fill up. Jajpur can get really hot in the summer, and the tin roof doesn't help much, but we have some old fans going. It isn't a fancy office with leather chairs or anything like that. It’s mostly metal desks with stacks of old ledgers and people shouting over the noise of the hullers. We know the neighbors and they know us. Most of our workers live close by, so they just walk or bike in. It’s a local operation. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around, which is frustrating, but that is just life here. We’ve had this setup for a bit, and we don't plan on moving anytime soon. The address is a bit of a mouthful when you tell someone over the phone, but once you get to Panikoili, it's easy to find us. We just handle the rice and try to keep things moving. There’s always more to do than there are hours in the day. It is just basic work.
