Zoya Ka Zayeka

Jaisalmer can be quite harsh with the sun and the dust, but it has its own charm. Our place, Zoya Ka Zayeka, is actually located inside La Diva Homestay on Bera Road. It is right opposite the Nagar Palika building, so it is easy to spot from the road. Being part of a homestay gives the place a different feel than a standalone restaurant. It feels a bit more like a kitchen in someone's house. We do all the cooking right there, and the smells usually drift through the whole building. Bera Road is a main path, so we see cars and the occasional camel passing by outside. The stone walls of the building keep it a bit cooler than the outside, but it’s still hot work in the kitchen. We spend our days preparing local dishes and making sure the guests have what they need. There is no corporate office or big management team; it is just us making sure the pots are clean and the food is ready. We like the pace here because it is steady without being overwhelming. The homestay guests often sit around and talk, and we are just there in the background doing the work. It is a simple setup, and we don't try to make it seem like anything more than what it is: a kitchen in Jaisalmer. We’re just across from the municipality office, waiting for the evening breeze to kick in.
