Vijay Leather Works

Vijay Leather Works is found on Asni Road. We have been working with leather here for quite some time, and the shop definitely reflects that. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the strong smell of tanned hides and the adhesives we use for repairs and making new items. There are scraps of leather on the floor and old sewing machines that have seen better days but still run perfectly fine. Asni Road can get pretty dusty with all the vehicles passing by, so we are constantly wiping down the counters. Our workspace is small and crowded with half-finished projects and rolls of material waiting to be cut. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the tools and the heavy needles. People bring in all sorts of things, from worn-out bags to belts that need a new hole punched in them. We take our time with each piece because leather isn't something you can rush if you want it to last. The work is hard on the hands and our fingers often have stains or small cuts, but that is just part of the trade. We don't put much effort into advertising or making the shop look modern. It is a traditional workshop where the focus is on the craft itself and making sure the items leave here in better shape than when they arrived.
