Laxmi Kirana Store

Our shop, Laxmi Kirana Store, is located in Ward Number 8 in the village of Dengari. We are quite close to the Shiv Mandir, and you can usually hear the temple bells throughout the day while we are working. Being out here in the Jaisalmer district, specifically in the Fatehgarh tehsil, things are a bit more relaxed than in the city. We mostly sell the usual groceries like flour, spices, sugar, and tea. It is a small space, so we have to stack things carefully to make sure everything fits. The post office in Dangara handles our mail, but mostly we just see our neighbors coming in for their daily needs. We have lived here for a long time, so we know what people like and what they don't. The desert heat can be tough in the summer months, so we usually have the fan going and keep some cold drinks in the back. It isn't a modern supermarket with bright lights and scanners. We just use a basic scale and keep our accounts in a ledger book. People stop by not just to buy things, but often just to sit for a minute and chat about the crops or the weather. It is a community thing more than anything else. We try to keep our shelves stocked with the basics so nobody has to go without their evening tea or salt for cooking.
