Desert Haveli Jaisalmer

Our place is right inside the Jaisalmer Fort, very close to the Jain Temple. It's an old building, like most things around here. Living and working inside the fort is different because the streets are so narrow and the stone gets warm in the sun. We have been here at Desert Haveli Jaisalmer for quite some time. It's not like a modern hotel you find in the big cities. The walls are thick and the rooms have that old feel. Sometimes the stairs are a bit steep or the floors aren't perfectly level, but that's just how these old havelis are built. We see a lot of people walking by to visit the temple. It gets busy during the day with tourists and locals, then quietens down at night. We mostly spend our time making sure everything is clean and ready for whoever is staying with us. It’s a family-run kind of thing. We don't have fancy brochures. Usually, people find us because they are wandering around the fort or someone told them about the spot near the temple. The view from the top is nice, you can see the whole city of Jaisalmer spreading out below. It's a lot of work maintaining an old place like this, always something to fix or paint. We just try to make it comfortable for everyone who stops by. It feels like home to us, and we hope it feels okay to you too when you visit and see it.
