Shankar Castings is over on Road No. 1 in the Vishwakarma Industrial Area. Our address is E-11. It’s a gritty part of town, full of metal shops and heavy trucks rumbling by all day long. We do metal castings here, so the place is always a bit dusty and the walls are stained with soot. It’s not the kind of place you’d visit in a nice suit. We wear heavy boots and old clothes because of the molten metal and the sand molds. The heat from the furnace can be pretty intense, especially during the summer months when the air doesn't move much. We have a small shed where we keep the finished pieces before they get picked up. It’s mostly manual labor and we rely on the skill of our workers who have been doing this for decades. We don't have a fancy website or a big marketing department. People know us because we’ve been at this spot for ages. The gate is a bit rusty and the sign is fading, but the work we do inside is solid. We have tea together in the afternoon when the furnace is cooling down. It’s a hard way to make a living, but there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing the liquid metal take shape. We aren't interested in being the biggest casting house, just in keeping the quality steady for the regular customers who depend on us.
