Vandana Fabrics

Being in Bapu Bazar means there is never a quiet moment. Our place, Vandana Fabrics, is located at 2, Dhula House. It is an old building but it serves us well. We deal with all kinds of cloth and textiles all day long. Sometimes the shop gets really cramped because of all the rolls of fabric we have stacked up. We try to keep things neat, but it is hard when customers are coming in and out. Most of our day is spent unfolding things and showing them to people who need specific colors or materials. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, making it quite warm inside. We usually have a fan going all the time. Working here in the market feels very different from a regular office job. You get to see everyone walking by and hear all the noise from the street vendors. It’s just us and a few helpers most of the time. We’ve known the neighbors for years. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows your name. We don't have any big corporate plans or anything. We just want to sell our fabrics and make sure the customers find what they are looking for. It’s a simple life, and we are quite happy with how things are going here in the bazaar. We stay open until the market starts to quiet down at night.
