We work with stones here at India Stone Arts. Our shop is at number 23 in Uttam Nagar. If you know the New Sanganer Road, we’re right opposite the Heera Path Petrol Pump. Actually, the address says it twice because it’s such a main landmark for us. It’s a busy spot, especially with all the people stopping for gas across the street. There’s always dust around because of the cutting and the polishing. That’s just part of the job when you deal with stone materials. We spend our days looking at slabs and figuring out the best way to cut them. It’s heavy work. You need strong hands and a lot of patience. We have a few guys who have been doing this for years. They know how different types of stone behave when you hit them. We don't have a glossy showroom. It’s more of a workshop where things actually get made. People come in looking for something specific for their house or a small project. We show them what we have out in the yard. Sometimes we have to wait for new stock to arrive from the quarries. It’s not a fast process. Working with stone takes time if you want it to look okay. We don't really advertise much. Most people just see us as they drive by the pump. It’s a bit noisy with the machines, but we’re used to it. We just keep our heads down and finish the orders. It’s a straightforward way to make a living.
