Udai Textiles

Sanganer is always full of color and noise, and we are right in the middle of it near Siliberi. Udai Textiles has been sitting here for a good while now. The floors are usually covered in bits of thread and cloth scraps. We spend a lot of time checking the loads coming in and going out. It is a messy job sometimes, but someone has to do it. You can hear the machines running from the street. It’s not a quiet place to work. We have a few guys who have been with us for ten years or more. They know exactly how the fabric should feel. If you come by, you’ll probably see us sitting on stools near the entrance having tea. The traffic near Siliberi can be a nightmare in the afternoons, so we usually try to get the heavy lifting done early in the morning. We don't have a big corporate sign or anything flashy. Just the name painted on the wall. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and wait it out, chatting about the local news. It’s a simple setup. We deal with whatever comes our way, from small batches to bigger orders that take up the whole floor space. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. My hands are usually stained with something by the end of the day.
