Tanwar Motor Driving School

Our office is at Plot No-43 in the Krishnapuri area of Sodala. It’s a simple room with a desk and some chairs where we handle the paperwork for the driving licenses. We’ve got a few cars parked outside, usually the smaller ones because they’re easier for people to learn on. Jaipur traffic can be a bit much, especially around Rakdi, so we spend a lot of time teaching people how to stay calm when everyone is honking. The walls have a few diagrams of road signs and some old maps of the city. We’ve been doing this for a long time, so the routine is pretty set. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too hot and the roads get too packed. A lot of the time is spent just sitting in the passenger seat, watching the pedals and making sure the students don't get too close to the rickshaws. The cars are well-used, you can see the wear on the gear shifts and the seats. We keep them running well though, because they have to be reliable. People come from all over this part of Jaipur to learn. It’s a lot of patience and repeating the same instructions over and over. "Check the mirror," "Slow down," "Use the indicator." It’s just a regular local business helping people get their wheels. We don't have any fancy simulators, just real cars and real roads.
