Our office is tucked away in Chowta Bich Ki Gali. It’s the place belonging to Ram Manohar Agarwal, son of Sita Ram Agarwal. If you ask anyone in the lane, they can point you to the right door. It’s a narrow street, typical of this part of town, so it’s better to walk than to try and bring a big vehicle down here. The space is quite small, just enough for a couple of desks and some chairs for people to sit while we talk. We’ve lived and worked in this area for a long time. Everything we do is based on the trust we’ve built with the people in the gali. We don’t use any fancy computers or digital displays in the window. It’s just us and our ledgers. The air in the lane can get a bit still, so we keep the doors open when we can. You’ll hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day—kids playing, neighbors talking, and the occasional scooter. It’s a very human place to work. We help folks save a little bit of money every month. It’s not much, but it adds up over time. People come by after they finish their own work to settle their bits.
