Taluka Granite

Over at Vijay Nagar, at number 200, you’ll find us at Taluka Granite. It’s mostly just a big space filled with heavy slabs. Granite isn't something you can just move around easily, so we spend a lot of time using the lifting equipment. The air usually smells like wet stone because of the cutting and polishing. It’s a tough job on the back, but we like the work. People come to us when they are building something new or fixing up an old place. We show them the different colors and the way the stone feels under their hand. Vijay Nagar is a lively area, and being at spot 200 makes us easy to find. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If you come in, you’ll probably find one of us with dusty hands in the back. We just show you what’s in the yard. Sometimes the rain makes it hard to show the stone properly because the colors change when they’re wet. We have to keep track of all the different blocks coming in from the quarries. It’s a lot of logbooks and scribbled notes. We’ve been doing this for a while now. Some days the truck doesn't show up on time, and we just sit around and talk shop or have some water. It’s not a glamorous business, but the stone is good and it lasts forever. That’s why we stay in this trade. Just basic, honest work with natural materials.
