The SRC Museum of Indology is tucked away over in Jawahar Nagar near Gangwal Park, at number 24. It’s a quiet spot compared to the rest of the city. We have a lot of old things here—manuscripts, bits of stone, and old paintings that have been around way longer than any of us. The air inside always smells a bit like old paper and dust, which I guess is what you’d expect from a museum. We spend a lot of our time just making sure everything stays in its place and that the glass cases are wiped down. It isn't a huge place, so you can walk through it pretty quickly if you're in a rush, but most people like to linger. The park nearby brings a bit of greenery to the view from our windows. Sometimes the light in the galleries is a bit dim because we have to protect the old fabrics from fading. We don't have a lot of fancy digital displays; it’s mostly just items on shelves with little typed labels. It feels like stepping back a few decades when you walk through the door. The staff here is small, and we mostly just enjoy the peace and quiet of the archives. It’s a good place for people who actually like history without all the loud noise of a tourist trap. We just keep the doors open and look after the collection.
