You can find Tirupati Textiles over at 1-90 in the Sitapura Industrial Area. It’s a big, sprawling place with wide roads and plenty of dust. Our unit is one of those long sheds where the temperature stays high even in the winter. We deal with textiles, so there’s always lint and threads floating around in the air. You can hear the rhythm of the machinery from the street. It’s a steady thumping sound that you stop noticing after the first hour. We have stacks of fabric piled up against the walls, waiting to be moved. The guys working here are mostly from the nearby villages or they rent rooms close by. We aren't big on meetings or fancy talk. Most of the communication happens over the noise of the machines. We usually have a big pot of tea going in the corner because everyone needs a break now and then. Sitapura is a bit far from the main city, so it feels like its own little world. We get our supplies delivered by truck, and there’s always someone shouting directions at the drivers. It’s busy, messy, and loud, but that’s just the nature of textile work. We don’t try to pretend it’s anything else. We show up, we do the work with the cloth, and we head home when the shift ends. It is a long day but the work gets done.
