Shruti

My place is at B 4 on Ram Marg in Shyam Nagar. I’ve been running things under the name Shruti from here for a good while. It’s basically a converted room in the house where I keep all my supplies and the sewing machine. It’s a bit cramped because there’s fabric everywhere and boxes stacked in the corners. I don't have a big store window or a sign out front. Most people just know to come to the blue gate. I spend most of my days cutting and stitching. Sometimes my kids come in and mess up the piles of thread, so I have to organize everything all over again. It’s a quiet street for the most part, which is nice when I need to concentrate. I don't have a staff, it’s just me doing the work and answering the door. When someone brings an order, I write it down in a notebook I keep on the table. It’s not a high-tech system, but it hasn't failed me yet. The lighting isn't perfect in the evenings, so I try to get the detailed work done while the sun is still up. If you stop by, you might hear the radio playing in the background. I like to keep things simple and personal. It’s just a small local business run out of my home. No corporate stuff here, just honest work and lots of thread. I hope people find what they need when they visit my little setup.
