Shri Shyam Hand Made Paper

We make our paper over in Sanganer, specifically on Sikrpura Road in Ramsingpura. We are right across from Fashion India, which is a big place people use to find their way to us. Hand-making paper is a slow process and we don’t try to rush it. The workshop is often full of wet pulp and large screens where the sheets are drying. It’s a lot of physical labor, but there is something nice about seeing a finished stack of paper that started out as just scraps and water. Sanganer is famous for this kind of work, and we’ve been part of that for a long time. We don’t have a high-tech setup; mostly it’s just tubs, frames, and our own hands doing the heavy lifting. The sun helps us out a lot with the drying part. When you walk in, you’ll likely see us covered in some sort of fiber or dye. We aren't a big corporation with fancy offices. We just have this one spot where we do everything from mixing to cutting. It gets hot during the summer months, but the work has to go on. People come to us when they want something that doesn't look like it came out of a big factory machine. Each sheet has its own little imperfections, and we think that’s what makes it real.
