Shri Kabir Handmade Paper Ind.

We've been at Jain Nasiya Ka Rasta in Sanganer for a long time now. It’s a busy spot near Bawari Ka Bass. If you walk by, you’ll see heaps of pulp and screens everywhere. Most days are spent watching the weather because if it rains, the paper won't dry. It’s a bit of a chaotic setup here at Shri Kabir Handmade Paper Ind. but we keep at it. The vats get messy and my hands are usually wet from morning until evening. My father started this and now a few of us carry it on. We don't have fancy machines, just basic tools and some old techniques. Sometimes the colors don't come out exactly the same every time, but that’s just how handmade stuff goes. The local guys know where to find us if they need a batch of sheets. It gets hot in the summer here in Sanganer, so we start early. The floor is usually covered in scrap bits of cotton and fiber. We just pile them up and start the next round. It isn't a quiet place to work with all the street noise coming in, but it suits us. We aren't trying to change the world, just making sure the stacks are ready by the end of the week. Sometimes the power goes out, so we just sit outside for a bit. That's how it is. It's just us making paper the old way.
