Shree Cement Ltd, Beawar

Our Jaipur office is at House Number 6 in the Durga G area, right near Shivaji Chowk in Brahmpuri. It is a residential neighborhood. This feels very different from being at the big plant in Beawar. The house belongs to the family of Shri G.N. Sharma, and our workspace is set up in one of the main rooms there. You have to walk through the local lanes to get here, passing the small grocery shops and the houses where families have lived for many generations. Brahmpuri has a lot of character. There are narrow streets and the sound of bells from the nearby temples in the early morning. Inside the house, things are very simple. We have a few heavy wooden tables and some old-fashioned chairs that work just fine. The ceilings are high, which helps keep the room a bit cooler during the harsh Jaipur summers. We don’t have a big staff here, just a few of us handling the local business and the paperwork. Most days are spent on the phone or writing out reports by hand before putting them into the computer. Tea is usually served on the small porch if it isn't too hot in the afternoon. It is a quiet place to work, away from the main city traffic. No fancy office equipment is kept here, just the basic things that we need to get through the daily list of jobs.
