Working with stone is all we really know here at Pitra Kripa Stone. We are located near the Gwaliji Temple in Madrampura, Sanganer. It’s a dusty place because of all the cutting and polishing we do every day. You can always hear the sound of the water saws running in the background. We handle different types of stone that come in on big trucks from the quarries. My father used to do this and now we are carrying it on at this same spot. The sun gets very hot out in the yard while we are moving the slabs around. We use heavy cranes for the big pieces and do the smaller carvings by hand. It takes a lot of patience to get the edges smooth. Sometimes a piece cracks and we have to start all over again, which is frustrating but that’s just part of dealing with natural material. We see a lot of people passing by on their way to the temple. Sometimes they stop in to see what we are making. We don’t have a showroom or anything, just the workspace and the finished pieces leaning against the walls. It’s hard work on the back and the lungs but we like seeing the finished stone go off to a new house. We just try to keep the quality steady and the prices fair for the local people.
