Maya Print

We are set up at 227 A in Mahaveer Nagar Y, which is right in Sanganer. If you know Sanganer, you know it’s a place where a lot of making and printing happens. At Maya Print, we have our machines running for most of the day. The smell of ink is something you just get used to when you work here. We have stacks of paper and various plates lying around the shop. It’s not a place where you’d want to wear your best clothes because something always ends up with a smudge on it. We spend a lot of time checking the alignment on the presses or refilling the ink trays. The sound of the printers is constant, a kind of rhythmic thumping that fills the room. When the weather gets hot, the shop can feel a bit stuffy, but we just open the doors and keep going. We have customers from around the neighborhood who drop off files or ask for a quick run of flyers. We don’t have a fancy front office; you basically walk right into where the work is happening. Sometimes the cutters are loud, or we are rushing to finish a batch before the sun goes down. It’s just how a print shop in Mahaveer Nagar operates. We like the work and the people who stop by to chat while they wait for their copies. It is hard work but we are used to it.
