About Samraat Moorti Kala – Building & Construction Material in Jaipur
Our shop is tucked away at 2895 Bhindon Ka Rasta. If you’re near Indira Bazar, you just head down the 5th Cross and you’ll find us. We make statues and religious figures, mostly out of marble and stone. It’s a craft that’s been around this area for a long time. You’ll usually see a bit of white dust on the floor because someone is always carving or polishing something. It’s not the quietest place to work, but we’re used to the sound of the tools. We have various pieces sitting around the front, some finished and some just started. Customers walk in off the street, often wanting something specific for their home or a temple. We talk about the size and the type of stone they want. It takes time to get these things right, so we don't rush the work. Sometimes the stone has a crack we didn't see at first, and we have to start over. That's frustrating, but it happens. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle the chisels. We don’t do much advertising; people usually find us by word of mouth or by just passing through the lane. It’s a simple life here, making things with our hands and hoping they turn out well. We just keep at it, one piece at a time, making sure the figures look right and the details are all there.
