Our workshop for Sameer Art & Craft is up on the second floor of Amber Tower. If you know Sansarchand Road, you know it’s always moving outside. We have a lot of materials piled up in O-25. It’s mostly wood pieces, some paint cans, and hand tools everywhere. It’s not the cleanest place because we’re always right in the middle of making something new. My hands usually have some ink or sawdust on them by the afternoon. We do a lot of custom work for local shops and people who want something specific for their houses. It’s a lot of manual labor, honestly. We don't use big fancy machines for everything; a lot of the work is just hands-on stuff with chisels and brushes. The light in the morning is pretty good in the studio, which helps when we're doing the finer details. Sometimes it’s loud with the sanding and cutting going on. We've been in this building for a good bit now. The neighbors know us by the smell of varnish and wood. It’s just me and a couple of guys helping out. We don’t really have a sales pitch or anything. People just see the work and ask if we can make something for them. We try to keep up with the orders, but good work takes time. You can’t rush the finish on a piece. Most days we stay late just to get things done. It’s nice seeing it finished after days of work. We just enjoy the craft.
