Salasar Broker

Down at Chandpole Bazar, inside the Anaj Mandi at shop number 14, you will find the Salasar Broker office. It’s a small place, really, just enough room for the essentials. We spend our days surrounded by the hum of the market. You can hear the sounds of the scales clanking and the laborers calling out to each other all day long. It is a very lived-in space. The walls have some stains and the floor is worn down from years of people walking in and out with heavy boots. We don't really bother with decorating or making things look pretty because that isn't why people come to see us at number 14. They come to talk about grain and to get their business handled. I usually sit behind the main desk with a stack of papers and a calculator that has seen a lot of use. The air always has a bit of a dusty smell to it, which is just part of being in the grain market. We take our lunch breaks when things get a little quiet, usually just a simple meal brought from home. It is a steady kind of life, governed by the seasons and what is being harvested in the fields. We don't have any big corporate goals; we just want to get through the day’s work without too many mistakes and be ready to do it all again tomorrow morning when the gates open up.
