We are located near the Kagzi Colony in Sanganer, specifically at Tejaji Ka Bara. Royal Handmade Papers is a small operation where we make paper the old-fashioned way. The area is always bustling with activity because there are so many of us doing this kind of work nearby. Our workshop is filled with the smell of pulp and the sound of water splashing against the floor. We don't really have a front office or a place for guests to sit. Usually, visitors just stand in the doorway and watch us work on the frames. We use various materials to get different textures in the paper. Some days the sun is really hot and the paper dries in no time, but during the monsoon, we have to be careful about mold and dampness. It’s a constant struggle with the weather. We have a few people who help with the heavy lifting and the pressing of the sheets. My hands are usually stained or rough from the work, but that is just part of the job. We don’t do much advertising at all. Most people find us because they know the neighborhood or they’ve heard about us from someone else who bought from us before. We keep our tools simple and try to produce as much as we can each week. It's a humble life here in Sanganer, but we are proud of what we make with our own hands. We just keep going one stack of paper at a time.
