Our place, Rajputana Construction (P) Ltd., is located at 135 Shivpuri Colony. It’s right off the main Kalwar Road in Jhotwara. Jaipur is a huge, sprawling city, but our little corner of it feels more like a regular neighborhood where everyone knows each other. We deal with construction, which usually means we are out in the hot sun more than we are sitting in the office. The heat here in Rajasthan can be really brutal during the summer months, but the work has to move forward. We started this business because there was so much building happening all around this area. We aren't trying to be some massive company that takes over the world. We just want to do a good job for the local people who hire us to build their homes or shops. Our office is very simple, and there is nothing fancy to look at inside. We usually have some samples of stone and different bricks lying around the floor. People come by, we offer them some chai, and we sit and talk about their building plans. It’s a lot of coordination with the workers and the suppliers every single day. Sometimes the trucks are late because of traffic, or the sudden rain ruins a whole day of work, but we always find a way to fix it. We’ve been at this for years and we know the streets here very well. Jhotwara is a busy place, and we are glad to be part of it.
