Radika Handicrafts

Radika Handicrafts is out in the V.K.I. Area on Road No. 9, at A-85. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, but this is where all the making happens. The area is full of warehouses and small factories, so it’s always dusty and loud with the sound of work. Inside our shed, there’s always something being carved or painted. We don’t have a fancy display area; the finished pieces just sit on the shelves until they’re packed into crates. It’s a bit of a mess, to be honest. There’s shavings on the floor and the smell of varnish in the air. We’ve got a small group of guys who’ve been with us for years. We sit around on low stools and get to it. The tea break is the highlight of the afternoon when the sun is beating down on the tin roof. We don’t spend much time worrying about how things look to outsiders. We just care that the pieces are done right. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we like the rhythm of it. The trucks come by twice a week to pick up the stock. Outside, the road is bumpy and there’s always some construction going on. We’ve got our little corner here, and that’s enough for us. It’s just a regular workshop where we make things by hand, day in and day out. We don't have a big corporate team, just us and our tools in this dusty shed.
