Quality Screen Art

Quality Screen Art is tucked away in Krishna Nagar over in the Lalkothi area. We are right by Imliwala Phatak at number 40, so we hear the trains going by all the time. It’s a noisy spot, but it helps us keep track of the time. Inside, the smell of ink is pretty strong. We do a lot of screen printing work here. There are frames leaning against the walls and drying racks taking up most of the floor space. It’s messy work, and someone usually has paint on their hands or clothes by noon. We don’t have a big front office or anything like that. You just walk in and see us working. It’s a simple building that fits in with the rest of the street. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to wait around for it to come back so we can finish the jobs. We use a lot of different screens for the various designs we print. It’s a lot of washing and scraping to get them ready for the next run. People from around Lalkothi know where to find us. It’s not a fancy art studio; it’s more of a workshop where things actually get made. The light isn’t great in the back, so we do most of the detailed work near the front door where the sun comes in. The metal door makes a loud creak every time someone walks in, so we always know someone is there.
