Priya Motor Driving School

We are located on Amer Road, right across from Naye Mata temple on the NH-8. Being right on the highway means there is always a lot of traffic passing by our front door at all hours. It’s a good spot for a driving school because students get used to the big trucks and buses very early on in their training. The office is just a small room with a desk and some old chairs for the students. We have the maps of the local driving routes pinned to the wall with some tape. It’s dusty because of all the vehicles on the main road, but that’s just how it is in this part of Jaipur. I’ve been teaching people to drive for many years now, and we use a couple of old hatchbacks that have seen better days but still run fine for the lessons. We mostly teach people from the nearby villages and the outskirts of the city. The mornings are usually the busiest time before it gets too hot to be out in the cars. I handle all the bookings myself on a big paper register that is falling apart at the edges. We don't have computers or anything fancy like that here. Sometimes the traffic on Amer Road gets backed up for miles, and we have to cancel the lessons, which is a bit of a pain for everyone. But mostly we just keep at it day after day. It's a simple business and we like being part of the community here. Most people find us just by seeing the cars parked outside.
