Paras Dyeing & Printing Mills

Being in Bapu Bazar means there is never a quiet moment from morning until night. Our place, Paras Dyeing & Printing Mills, is tucked into Sunny Arcade at number 115. It’s very close to Chaura Rasta, so the whole area is always packed with shoppers, tourists, and rickshaws. We deal with all sorts of fabrics and colors all day long. The smell of the dye is quite strong, and it's something you just get used to after working here for a few weeks. It’s a messy business, to be honest. Your hands and clothes often end up stained with ink by the end of the shift. We do a lot of block printing and dyeing on different types of clothes. It’s an old-fashioned way of working, but it’s what we have always known. The arcade itself is a bit cramped and the lighting isn't always the best, but we make it work. Sometimes we have to move heavy bundles of cloth through the narrow hallways which is a bit of a struggle. We usually talk to the other shopkeepers in the morning while we are opening up the shutters. We’ve been part of this market for a long time. People know us for the textile work we do. We don’t have a big website or any social media presence. Most people just walk in because they saw the sign or heard about us from a neighbor. It's a very traditional and simple setup. We keep everything in big ledgers.
