Doors Floors

Our shop is right across from the PNB in New Atish Market, Mansarovar. It is Shop No. 274, and if you know the area, you know how busy the street can get with all the traffic and people going to the bank. Doors Floors has been sitting here for a while now. We spend our mornings dusting off the samples and making sure the floor is swept before the sun gets too high. The space is filled with different things people might need for their houses. It is not always the quietest spot because of the main road, but we have gotten used to the noise over the years. We usually have a lot of stuff stacked up, so sometimes it feels a bit tight inside. We don't really do much advertising; people mostly just see the sign when they are heading to the bank or walking through the market. My desk is tucked in the back corner where I keep all the papers and a small radio that usually plays the news. We try to keep things straightforward and just handle what comes our way each day. When the lunch hour hits, the market gets a bit calmer for a bit. We’ve seen many shops come and go around Mansarovar, but we are still here at the same old spot. It’s a lot of work keeping everything in order, but that’s just the way it goes when you run a local business.
