Our shop is tucked away on Sanghi Ji Ka Rasta, right off the main Chaura Rasta. It’s a very old part of the city, so the lanes are narrow and always full of people walking and bikes zooming past. We’ve been here in this same spot for years, dealing with glasses and frames. The shop isn't very large, but we have enough room for the testing equipment and the display cases. It’s often a bit cramped when three or four customers come in at once. We spend a lot of time adjusting frames that people have sat on or bent by mistake. The lighting inside could be better, but we’ve gotten used to it. Every morning we clean the glass cases and wait for the first person to come in with a broken lens or a new prescription. Working in Chaura Rasta means there is constant noise from the street, but you stop noticing it after a while. We don't do much in the way of advertising. Most people who come here are regulars or their kids. Sometimes we run out of a specific frame and have to wait for the delivery guy to fight through the traffic to bring more. It’s a simple life running a small optical shop here. We try to keep things organized, even if the drawers are overflowing with old cases and spare parts. It’s just how it is in this part of town.
