Being on Station Road means there is always a lot of noise. It’s a bit funny since we spend a lot of time dealing with ears and hearing issues at Mukesh ENT. The clinic is right in the thick of everything. It’s not one of those huge hospitals where you get lost in the long hallways. We have a small waiting area that gets a bit crowded with people sometimes. Folks come in with all sorts of things, like a sore throat that won't go away or ears that feel plugged up after a swim. We try to see everyone as they come through the door. It’s a lot of listening, really. People tell you about their pain or how they can’t hear their grandkids talking anymore. You get used to the smell of the disinfectant and the sound of the trains passing by nearby. It’s a practical place for practical problems. We don't have fancy art on the walls or expensive furniture. We just have the tools we need to check what is wrong and try to help. Sometimes the power goes out in the heat and we just have to wait it out like everyone else on the street. It’s a busy life but it feels good to help someone breathe easier or hear a bit better. Most of our patients are from right here in the neighborhood. They know the door and they know the way in.
