At Modern Construction Company Pvt Ltd, we operate out of B 233 on Road No 9 in VKIA. It is a strictly industrial area, so there are always trucks moving and a lot of dust in the air. Our office is a pretty plain building. We don't have any big signs or flashing lights. We’ve been here at this address for several years. Inside, the walls are covered with schedules and old photos of past jobs. We don't spend a lot on fancy furniture because we’d rather spend it on the equipment we actually use. A lot of our time is spent out on the road or at different sites, so the office is mostly a place to catch up on emails and talk to the crew. We have a small kitchen area where we make tea and eat lunch together most days. It’s a straightforward way of working. We don’t go for the corporate lifestyle with long meetings that don’t go anywhere. Usually, we just stand around a table and decide what needs to be done next. The work can be tough and the weather isn't always kind, but we just keep showing up. We aren't looking to be famous or anything. We just want to get the structures built properly and move on to the next one on the list. That is what keeps our doors open and our people busy every day.
