Maya Design Atelier

Maya Design Atelier is up on the second floor of the shopping complex in Raja Park. It’s right across from LBS College. We’re a small design studio. We don't have a lot of people working here, just a few of us who like drawing and planning out spaces. Most of our work is about figuring out how to make a small apartment or a shop feel less crowded. We use Raja Park as our base because it's a lively area with lots of different projects going on. Our space at S-2 is full of fabric swatches, paint chips, and sketches. It's not the most organized place in the world, but it works for us. We spend a lot of time visiting sites around Tilak Nagar to see how the work is progressing. We aren't the type to just give a drawing and walk away. We like to see how the wood looks once it's stained or how the light hits a certain corner in the evening. We talk to the carpenters and the painters a lot. Sometimes we disagree on how something should be done, but we eventually figure it out together. We aren't into those super modern, cold-looking designs. We like things to feel a bit more lived-in and comfortable. People stop by the office to look at what we’re working on, and we usually have a cup of tea and chat about their own home ideas.
