Venus Fabrics

Our shop, Venus Fabrics, is tucked away at G-8 in Ram Bhawan, right on Maniharon Ka Rasta. If you’ve ever walked down this street, you know how crowded it gets with people and all the different shops selling everything you can think of. We deal with all sorts of cloth here. The space isn’t huge, so we have rolls of fabric stacked up pretty high against the walls. Sometimes it's a bit of a struggle to find exactly what a customer wants in the middle of a busy afternoon, but we usually manage. We aren't trying to be some high-end boutique. It’s just a place where you can get good material for a fair price. My family has been around this area for a long time, and we just kept going with the fabric business. The lighting inside isn't the best, but you can see the colors well enough. We spend most of our time measuring out meters of cloth and cutting them for whoever walks in. It’s a lot of standing and talking to people. Some days the heat in the narrow lane is quite a lot, but the fans keep things moving. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. We just keep the shelves stocked and try to stay helpful. It’s a simple way to make a living, surrounded by all these different textures and patterns every day.
