Ram Textile

Our shop, Ram Textile, is located on Nehru Marg in Malviya Nagar, specifically at F- 267/365. It’s a long road and we’re right in the middle of all the action. I’ve spent most of my life working around fabrics. The smell of new cloth is something I’ve gotten very used to over the decades. Inside, it’s mostly rolls of different materials stacked up to the ceiling. It can get a bit overwhelming for people if they don't know exactly what they're looking for. I usually have to climb a wooden ladder to get the stuff from the top shelf. My knees aren't what they used to be, so I take it slow these days. We have cottons, silks, and some synthetic blends. People come here to get material for their suits or sometimes for curtains. I have a big wooden table where I measure and cut the cloth. The scissors are quite old but they stay sharp because I take care of them myself. Sometimes customers bring in pictures on their phones of what they want to make. I try my best to match the color as closely as I can. It’s not always a perfect match, but I try. The shop gets quite warm in the afternoon when the sun hits the front window. I usually keep a jug of water and a glass behind the counter. It’s a quiet life, mostly. I like seeing what people end up making.
