Machine Products India Ltd. is based at 41, Gidc Estate on Odhav Road. If you know this part of town, you know it is strictly for industrial work. There are no fancy shops or parks around here, just warehouses and workshops. Our building has been here a long time and it shows in the way the floors are worn down. We spend our time making various machine components. It’s a loud environment with the sound of cutting and grinding going on most of the day. The air usually smells like metal and cutting fluid, which is something you just get used to after a week. Our workers are local people who have been doing this kind of manual labor for most of their lives. We don't have a big management team or anyone in suits. We just look at the drawings, set up the machines, and get to work. Sometimes the equipment breaks down and we have to spend half a day fixing it ourselves, which can be frustrating, but we manage. We aren't looking to grow into some giant company, we just want to keep the orders coming in so we can stay busy. It’s a gritty, hands-on type of business, and we are fine with that. We take the work as it comes and try to do a decent job on every piece that leaves the shop.
