Leather Associates

Being out by the Gopalpura Bye Pass means we get a lot of traffic passing by our gate. Our place at 52, Sonabari isn't anything special to look at from the outside. Just a regular building where we handle all our leather stuff. Leather Associates sounds like a big team, but it’s really just a few of us making sure the quality of the hides is okay. We spend a lot of time looking at skins. You learn a lot about leather just by the smell and the feel of it after a few years. The smell gets under your fingernails and stays there. The Bye Pass is always loud with trucks, but it makes it easy for our deliveries to find us. We don't have a showroom with fancy lights or carpets. It’s more of a workspace with leather scraps on the floor and tools on the benches. Sometimes the coffee machine breaks and it’s a bad day for everyone in the office. We deal with suppliers and buyers, mostly on the phone. It's a lot of back and forth every afternoon. Sonabari is a decent area, tucked away a bit from the main chaos. We try to keep things organized, but when a big shipment comes in, the whole place gets messy for a week. That's just how it goes in this trade. We don't spend money on big signs or ads. Word of mouth usually brings people to our door. It’s a simple setup, really. We just work with what we have and keep going.
