Laxmi Provision Store

Our shop is Laxmi Provision Store, right at the start of Bapu Bazar Link Road, number 1. Being at the beginning of the road means we see everyone walking into the market. It’s a small place, packed from floor to ceiling with sacks of grain, lentils, and all the usual groceries. We have those big jars of spices that smell like everything all at once. Usually, there’s a bit of a line in the mornings when people are buying things for lunch. We use an old scale for some things, though we have a digital one now too. My brother and I take turns behind the counter. Sometimes we forget to restock the soap or the oil until someone asks for it, then we have to climb the ladder to the top shelf. Bapu Bazar is always crowded, so it’s never quiet here. We know most of the families around this part of town because they’ve been coming to us for years. We don't do home delivery or anything fancy; people just come by with their cloth bags and we fill them up. The wooden floorboards creak a bit when you walk on them, but they’ve held up for a long time. It’s a humble business. We just try to keep the staples in stock so nobody goes home without what they need for dinner. It’s just us here, doing the same thing every day, and we've been doing it like this since I was a kid.
