Kohinoor Handmade Paper Industries

Our workshop at Kohinoor Handmade Paper Industries is located right near the railway bridge on Malpura Road. Being in Sanganer, we are surrounded by a lot of history when it comes to making things by hand. You can hear the trains passing over the bridge all through the day, and the whole building vibrates a little bit every time a heavy one goes by. Making paper is a bit of a messy business, so there is usually water and pulp on the floors. We have been in this spot for many years and the walls have seen a lot of work. The sun gets quite hot out here on Malpura Road, so we try to get most of the heavy lifting done early in the morning. We do not have a fancy office or a big reception area. It is mostly just the drying racks and the vats where the paper gets made. Our staff is made up of local people who have been doing this for a long time. They do not need many instructions anymore because they know the rhythm of the work by heart. Sometimes the weather stays too humid and the paper takes forever to dry, which can be a bit of a headache, but we just wait it out. It is a slow process and we do not try to rush it. We just keep the gates open and get to work as soon as the sun comes up.
