We work with the local community to help everyone save a little bit every month. Because it’s a Nidhi, we only deal with our members. It’s like a small club where everyone knows everyone else’s uncle or cousin. We don't spend money on big signs or advertisements. Word of mouth is how most people find us. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit on the porch and wait for it to come back. Life is steady here. We handle the loans for weddings or for fixing up a house. It’s all very straightforward. We don’t use complicated words or long contracts that no one can read. If someone has a question, they just walk in and ask. That is how we’ve always done it in Phagi, and we don't see any reason to change it now. We are just here for the locals.
