Janta Battery

If you know the Chomu Sikar Road area, you probably know how busy it gets with all the heavy vehicles. Janta Battery is located right across from the Saini Dharam Kanta, which means we see trucks and tractors stopping all day to get weighed. It’s a loud spot, and the air always smells a bit like diesel and old metal. We spend our time testing batteries, charging them up, or dragging out new ones when someone’s engine won't turn over. My hands are usually stained with grease or acid marks, but that’s just the nature of the work we do here. We don't have any fancy displays or a waiting room with air conditioning. People just pull up on the side of the road, and we take a look at what’s wrong under the hood. Sometimes it’s a quick fix, and other times we have to tell them it’s time for a replacement. The shop is small and packed with black battery casings stacked on top of each other. It gets pretty hot during the summer months, so we keep a small table fan running near the bench where we work. We’ve been at this location for a while now, and most of the local drivers know us by name. It’s not a complicated life, just fixing what’s broken and making sure people can get back on the road without too much trouble. We stay open until the traffic on the highway finally starts to slow down for the night.
