Jagdish Narain & Co

Our shop is number 53 in the Surajpole Mandi. Jagdish Narain & Co has been around this market for decades. If you come looking for us, just ask anyone near the main entrance; they usually know where we are located. It is a busy spot, especially during the peak seasons when the harvest comes in. We deal with the bulk trade that happens every day. The space is filled with sacks stacked up to the ceiling sometimes. We have a small wooden desk where we sit to do the counting and the billing. It’s a bit cramped when we have a few visitors at once. The floor is made of old stone, and it’s seen a lot of boots over the years. We start our day when it is still dark outside. By the time most people are waking up, we have already done half our work. There’s no air conditioning, just a big ceiling fan that moves the air around. We don't do any fancy advertising or have a big sign with lights. Our reputation is just based on being here every day and doing what we say we will. We know the other traders and the farmers who have been coming to us since I was a young man. It’s a steady life, and we are quite content with how things are in the mandi.
