Indian Railways

Our spot on Jan Path in Shyam Nagar Extension is a bit away from the main chaos of Jaipur, but it still stays busy. This office for Indian Railways is tucked into F-236, and it’s a fairly straightforward place to work. The mornings start with the sun hitting the front of the building, and by noon, it’s usually baking hot. We don't have fancy interiors or any of that modern office decor. It’s mostly just metal cupboards, wooden chairs, and stacks of files that go back years. We spend our hours coordinating schedules and making sure the paperwork for the region is in order. You won't find any slick presentations here. It’s more about the clatter of keyboards and the occasional sound of someone fixing a ceiling fan. The neighborhood is growing, so there is always some construction noise drifting in from the extension. We take our breaks in the small space out front or grab a quick snack from the vendors nearby. The staff here is small and we’ve all grown used to the quirks of this building. It’s a practical environment where the focus is on the job at hand rather than how things look. We keep the doors open when there's a breeze, and we just keep pushing through the daily list of tasks in Jaipur 302019. It isn't much to look at, but we get the job done every single day.
