Gem Overseas

Our office is tucked away at 126-A, V.K. Nagar II, near Maharani Farm in Durgapura. It is a much quieter area than the middle of the city, which we appreciate. We handle a lot of paperwork for things going overseas, so it’s important to have a bit of peace to get the numbers right. The room we work in is pretty basic, just some desks, chairs, and a lot of filing cabinets. There are samples of different products scattered around on the shelves. We spend a lot of our day on the phone with shipping agents or checking on where a container is located. It is not the most exciting work, but it keeps us busy. We have a small radio that stays on most of the day, usually playing some old songs. There is a big window that looks out towards the farm area, and sometimes we see the local cows wandering past. We don't have a big corporate team. It is just a few of us who have known each other for a long time. We handle everything from the initial call to the final tracking. Sometimes we have to work odd hours because of the time differences in other countries. We don't have any flashy signs out front. People find us because they need someone who knows how to handle the customs forms and the logistics. It is just steady, daily work for us and we like it.
