Ganga Nagar Motor Co. is located at No-11 in Mulchand Nagar. We are right across from the LIC building in the Transport Nagar area. It’s a very dusty part of town because of all the trucks and heavy vehicles moving around. We deal with motor parts. My father started this business a long time ago and now we are the ones handling the daily work. The shop isn't anything special to look at. It’s mostly just shelves filled with heavy iron parts and boxes. We spend a lot of time cleaning off the grease from our hands. There is always a pot of tea going in the back. Customers come in looking for something very specific for their engines. Sometimes we have it, sometimes we have to wait for a delivery. We don't do any big advertising. People just know we are here. Transport Nagar is a tough place to work because it’s so loud and busy all the time. But it’s where the work is. We have a few regular mechanics who come by every single day. We talk about the trucks and the roads. Our records are mostly kept in big ledgers. It’s an old way of doing things but it works for us. We just stay focused on the task and try to keep the shop running. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s our life. We usually lock up around seven or eight depending on how the day goes.
