Dr. T C Jain Clinic

If you’ve ever walked through Johri Bazar in Jaipur, you know how crowded and lively it gets. Our clinic, the Dr. T C Jain Clinic, is situated at 2665 Ghee Walon Ka Rasta. It’s at the 4th crossing, so it’s right in the thick of things. Johri Bazar is famous for jewelry, but people living and working here need a doctor too. The clinic is an old-fashioned space, much like the buildings around it. We don’t have much in the way of modern glass or steel. Instead, it’s thick walls and the kind of atmosphere you only find in the old city. It can get quite hot in the summer, but we have the fans going and it stays decent inside. People come in from the market—shopkeepers, shoppers, and local families. We see a bit of everything here. It’s a general practice, so one minute we might be looking at a fever and the next it’s someone with a scraped knee. There’s no big fancy sign out front, just the name that most folks in the neighborhood already know. We’ve been at this spot for a long time. The paperwork is mostly kept in cupboards and we remember many of our patients by their names rather than just a file number. It’s a busy life in the bazar, but we like being right here where the people are. It feels like part of the history of the street and the local community.
