Doshi Handicrafts & Handloom

You can find us over at B-16 A, Basko House, which is near the Burj in Govind Nagar East. It’s a bit of a long address to write down, but it’s actually quite easy to find once you get near the Jorawar Singh Gate on Amer Road. We’ve been working with handicrafts and handloom items in this space for a long time. The location is great because Amer Road is always full of life, though it can get very dusty with all the tourists and local traffic passing by. Our workshop and storage are all right here in the same building. It’s an old-style building, Basko House, and it stays relatively cool even when the Jaipur heat is at its worst outside. We have piles of fabrics and various handcrafted goods stacked up in different corners. It might look a bit disorganized to an outsider, but we know exactly where everything is kept. We don't really have a fancy display window; we just show people what we have when they come in. Being near the Burj gives us a good sense of the old city's history, which fits the kind of work we do. Most of our days are spent checking the quality of the weaving or packing up things for regular buyers. It’s a humble setup, but it’s served us well over the years we’ve been here in Govind Nagar.
